Xiaomi introduced its flagship smartphone, the Mi MIX 2 in September in China. The smartphone arrived in India early October for a price of Rs 35,999.

To quickly recap, Xiaomi had introduced two version of the handset- the regular version, sculpted out of ceramic and aluminium and a special edition model, built entirely out of ceramic. While the all-ceramic edition was available in White colour scheme, Xiaomi has added a new Black version that will go on sale in China from November 28.

The company has also launched a limited edition Xiaomi Mi MIX 2 Starck Edition which comes with ‘Starck’ engraved on the rear panel down below. The Starck Edition represents the French designer, Philippe Starck the man who designed the original Mi MIX and the second iteration as well.

The Xiaomi Mi MIX 2 is a premium device that is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 SoC paired with Adreno 540 GPU for graphics. The ceramic+aluminum version comes with 6GB RAM/128GB storage while the all-ceramic model packs a massive 8GB of RAM. Both the edition don’t have expandable storage option.

The Mi MIX 2 features a 5.99-inch display full HD+ (2160 x 1080 pixel resolution) LCD display with 18:9 aspect ratio and pixel density of 403ppi. It flaunts an edge-to-edge display that supports DCI-P3 colour gamut. The phone ships with Android 7.1.2 Nougat with company’s in-house skin MIUI 9 on top.

As for photography, the Mi MIX 2 sports a 12-megapixel Sony IMX386 primary sensor with f/2.0 aperture, dual-tone LED flash, 4-axis OIS. The rear camera is capable of recording 4K videos. Up front, it has a 5-megapixel camera with facial recognition. The dual-SIM Mi Mix 2 supports 4G LTE and Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.0 fast charging. It has a battery backup of 3400mAh.

Xiaomi has launched the all-ceramic Black colour variant of the Mi MIX 2 for a price of RMB 4,699 (roughly Rs 46,000), meanwhile, the Starck edition is priced at RMB 4,999 (around Rs 49,000).
