A software update for the Tesla Model S P100D will allow the electric vehicle to reach 60 mph in just 2.4 seconds when Ludicrous Mode is enabled. The car will be able to travel a quarter mile in as little as 10.6 seconds. Tesla’s Model X P100D is receiving a similar update, with 0.1 seconds taken off both stats.
Tesla says its Model S P100D is already the fastest production vehicle on the market, though this 0.1 second improvement allows it to beat Porsche’s $845,000 918 Spyder.
The software update will head out to applicable vehicles next month.
