An update to Tesla’s Autopilot will be released next month, making the vehicles using it “smoother.” CEO Elon Musk mentioned the software will be deployed soon and is an update for its HW2 vehicles. It requires more sensors and computing power than are available with older HW1 vehicles.
The smoother ride will come as a result of a better control algorithm. Musk described the new algorithm as “even safer” and “super smooth.” While the original one was “safe, but unpleasant.”
HW2 vehicles are also likely to receive perpendicular parking and rain sensors in June.
