Google’s Pixel and Nexus lineup were the first to receive the latest Android update, but that was expected since the devices are basically running the stock version of the system. Other companies need to make some small and larger adjustments, depending on the interfaces.

Sony has now confirmed that they are aiming to become the first third-party manufacturer to roll out the Android 7.1.1 update and that is the company’s “number 1 priority.” The team has the source code, and are now waiting for the application suite (GMS apps) and the Compatibility Test Suite (CTS) from Google.

“If you spot any other vendor (excluding Google) releasing this faster than us, prepare your rotten tomatoes!” said Sony’s Xperia Concept development team.
