The updated Samsung Galaxy J2 Pro surfaced online a few times last year, but it failed to hit the market until now. This low-end handset is now official in Vietnam, where it can be acquired for the equivalent of about US$145. Considering its specs, we cannot imagine the Galaxy J2 Pro (2018) reaching the Western world anytime soon. However, that might happen if some carriers decide to offer it as a free smartphone bundled with a mobile subscription plan.
According to the official Samsung Vietnam website, this handset is powered by an unspecified 1.4 GHz quad-core processor. The Samsung Galaxy J2 Pro (2018) has a 5-inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of only 960 x 540 pixels and runs Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box. Its list of specs also includes 1.5 GB RAM, 16 GB internal storage, a 5 MP selfie shooter and an 8 MP main camera, as well as a 2,600 mAh battery. Given its price range, it would be too much to think that Samsung would ever bother with an Android Oreo update for the Galaxy J2 Pro (2018).
The colors choices available for this handset are blue, black, and gold. These being said, remains to see if Samsung decides to bring this new handset to the US market anytime soon. After all, it would be a decent backup phone, and maybe a fine handset to buy for your kid(s) as well.
