An iPhone owner in China has reported that their unit exploded after it was dropped on the ground. Another exploding iPhone was reported a few months ago. In this case, the user accidentally dropped their iPhone 7 Plus and then observed it smoking, vibrating, and swelling up.

The swelling turned into an explosion strong enough to bend the phone and detach the display from the rest of the unit. Based on the particulars of the case, it’s likely the drop was able to damage the handset’s lithium-ion battery. The phone had only been purchased one month prior.

Apple has yet to comment on the case.
