It’s now possible to save your live videos on Instagram. An update to the app on iOS and Android has introduced the ability to save broadcasts once they’re over. That ability has been one of the key limitations of the service’s livestreaming feature, which was introduced in 2016.
This switch makes Instagram Live more like Facebook Live and Periscope.
Kevin Weil, Instagram’s head of product, justified the initial lack of a save ability by saying the company wanted users to get comfortable with livestreaming with them not having to worry about videos being saved. Videos still won’t be saved by default.
