Smartwatch market isn’t very interesting and many companies have decided not to announce a new watch this year. To improve its platform, Google has now acquired smartwatch OS startup behind the CoWatch. As a result of the acquisition, Cronologics team will join Google. The terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The startup has recenlty launched its first smartwatch called CoWatch following a successful crowdfunding campaign, but it remains to be seen whether the watch will be on sale for much longer.

“We started Cronologics in 2014 as a platform for smart, diverse smartwatches. Today, we’re excited to announce the next phase of our journey — we are joining Google to help grow the portfolio of watches powered by Android Wear. We see strong alignment with Android Wear’s mission and look forward to working with our new colleagues at Google to continue pushing the frontier of wearable technology and smartwatches with Android Wear 2.0 and beyond,” said the company.
