Apple is going to let developers on the App Store offer their users discounts on in-app subscriptions so long as those subscriptions are created with auto-pay enabled. This new discount option was discussed in iOS 11.2’s beta release notes. Discounts can be used to attract new subscribers.
Until now, developers could only offer free services, a full price subscription, or a single-use free trial. Once iOS 11.2 is released, a discounted pricing option will be added to that list.
By giving developers more control over how their services are sold, Apple is making the App Store a more enticing platform for apps.
